I had the great honor this July 8 to witness my very first elopement as Innkeeper at Olde Square Inn. Although we’ve had honeymooners and bridal parties getting ready for the wedding day, this was our first actual ceremony and, as you might guess, was very beautiful and touching.Sheila was stunning in an off-white, lace overlay dress, and carried a beautiful bouquet of roses and wild flowers. Groom Chris cleaned up purty good himself, and joked in his southern drawl, “Well, she finally got me after ten years!” From the look on his face, I would say he was very happy about being got.
Reverend Kelly Jo Singleton who is a lovely, soft-spoken minister, led the ceremony. Incidentally, she also officiated my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding, and I would recommend her to anybody. We toasted their great occasion with a glass of wine, and after pictures (Chris: Ah think the photographer took about 15,000), the couple was off to a fabulous steak dinner at the Catacombs at nearby Bube’s Brewery, to return home to a romantic evening in the Carriage House.
